FREE online course in Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms - powered by Google

The NPTEL project, which has seven IITs and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) as members, has recently launched an online course in Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms. This is a free course and is open to all college students in any engineering or science steam in India.

This is the first time that the IITs are offering something like this and it is a golden opportunity for students to learn from some of the best Computer Science faculty in the country.

After the course, an in-person exam can be taken by paying a nominal fee those who pass the exam will get a certificate. It is also possible to just take the course and not take the exam.

The online course is powered by Google's open-source MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) platform called Course Builder.

As you might already know, over last few years NPTEL has been putting IIT lecture videos online. Their YouTube channel has more than 13,000 videos across all branches of Engineering and has hit more than 100 million video views. You can see the list of videos on the NPTEL site and on
