Profile- Telecom Support Engineer


The L2 Support group is responsible for handling problems reported by end customers. Engineers in L2 support team are responsible for assisting Tier I personnel in solving basic technical problems and for investigating elevated issues by confirming the validity of the problem and seeking for known solutions related to these more complex issues. 

JOB Responsibility:

As a part of L2 support team, engineers will have mainly following responsibilities:
* Manage problems resolutions with L1/customers as a single interface 
on receiving ticket/service request
* Responsible for raising the issue to the Tier III (L3) technical support 
group with all the information to assist the L3 group, if a problem is 
new and/or personnel from L2 group cannot determine a solution 
* Manage problems in accordance with severity level
* Work as per defined SLA.
* Notify management of critical customer affecting issues 
* Update the ticketing database and Knowledge Base with the solution 
and RCA of the problems solved him/her
* Provide Emergency Support (24x7)
* Might need to work in Shift

Mandatory Skills:

* 2-6 Years of experience in Telecom domain in technical support role
* Good knowledge of Linux Admin (Preferable RHCSA and RHCE 
Certified), SOLARIS Admin (Preferable SCSA/OSCA Certified)
* Hands on experience on Cluster configuration, Disk Management and 
RAID concepts
* Solid understanding of storage, including SAN attached & local storage
* Hands on experience on switching technology like routing, vlan, stp, 
tunnelling etc
* Good Understanding of Oracle Database and writing complex SQL 
* Hands on experience of Scripting (Shell/Perl)
* Hand on experience of Network Security like firewall, demilitarized 
zones, and IPsec etc.
* Understanding of Protocol Sigtran (IP-M3UA, SCTP), SS7 (Signalling 
System#7), SS7/Sigtran configuration on live platform
* Basic Understanding of Web Server Configuration.
* Understanding of hardware faults like disk failure, cpu failure, tape drive 
failure, and fan failure etc.
* Good understanding of inbuilt Linux/Sun monitoring tools and third 
party tools like wireshark
* Understanding of Ticketing/Issue Management Systems
* Excellent Problem debugging/isolation skills for applications/DBs

Preferred Skills:
* Working experience of Alcatel-Lucent Open Service Platform (OSP) or 
any application based on this platform
* Experience of hardware deployment and configuration preferably for HP 
Proliant Servers and Sun Servers
* Knowledge of Web Services (Soap/HTTP/Tomcat)
